Description
Alkalinity is essentially “pH insurance.” If it is too low, the water becomes corrosive and the pH will fluctuate wildly. If it is too high, it can lead to cloudy water and scale buildup.
Use the following guidelines to raise total alkalinity (TA) levels. The goal is to reach a range of 80–120 ppm.
Pro Tips for Balancing:
- Alkalinity First: Always adjust your alkalinity before your pH. Alkalinity acts as a buffer; once it is set, your pH will naturally stabilize.
- Incremental Adjustments: If your levels are very low, add half the recommended dose first, wait, and retest to avoid overshooting your target.
