Before You Open Your Pool
Did you open your pool yet? If not, here’s some helpful tips you should read before you open it up for the season.
1. Plan Ahead to Pick The Best Opening Dates
Are you going to open it yourself or hire a company? Either way, you need to plan for it. If you hire a company, the earlier you scheduled it, the more date choices you’ll have.
2. Drain Your Cover Before Removing It
If you’re opening the pool on your own, you need to ask someone to help you. It takes two adults to open a pool. And it doesn’t matter if it’s an above ground or inground pool.
If you don’t have a mesh safety cover, then you might have water and debris on top of the cover. Remove all water and debris off the top before removing the cover. You can use a winter cover pump to help you if you don’t have one come into any of our 4 retail stores to buy one.
3. Start Saving For Any Unexpected Repairs
Your pool has been dormant all winter. And there’s a chance something could have gone a little wrong. It could be your pump, filter, heater or the pool itself.
If you haven’t already, it’s time to start putting some money away in case you need to do any major pool repairs.
It’s always a good idea to keep a “pool fund” going.
4. Get Your Pool Supplies Early
Once your pool is open, you will need to take care of it right away. It might be green, it might be cloudy, but we can fix all that with the right tools.
Don’t forget to take advantage of early bird specials at our 5 local pool stores this season.
Stock up on chemicals so you’re not running back and forth to the store while you’re trying to clean up your pool.
5. Start Getting Excited!
Opening your pool is the unofficial start of summer, and that’s exciting. Don’t freak out if you’re pool’s a little messy from the winter – that’s common.
