The framework of a gunite pool encompasses a grid of rebar for maximum strength, which is custom fit to the individual pool’s design. Then gunite is sprayed on with a shotcrete hose, providing the strongest in-ground pool possible. When you want that one-of-a-kind look for your backyard oasis, a gunite pool is the way to go. As follows, Pool and Spa Depot exceeds the industry standard both on rebar schedule and shotcrete thickness. What’s Involved In Building Gunite Pools?

Before ground is broken, a Pool & Spa Depot designer works with you to determine if the pool you want is the best option for your terrain. This can be done with a store visit or on-site at your location. We offer a free design mockup at the store, and we can do a 3D design for a small fee. Once the pool itself is designed, we will detail the whole project with any special features you choose to add.

Once you sign your install agreement and secure your deposit, we officially start your pool construction! Once the plans are good to go, the area is marked out to ensure that no underground pipes are hit during construction. Dimensions and grading are then double-checked, and then the excavation is dug out. Next, plumbing is installed, and a pressure test is performed. A separate team custom-installs the rebar grid, which runs along the floor and walls of the pool.

Next, gunite/shotcrete is applied pneumatically. Benches and any other nooks are hand-sculpted before the pool cures, and then our qualified electricians install the necessary electrical work. Next it’s time for back-filling, your decking and coping is installed, tile or other visual features are added, and the final interior pool finish is applied. At this point, your pool is finished and ready for your enjoyment!

Pool & Spa Depot professionals will teach you how to operate and maintain your pool in our signature Pool School. After everything is complete, we clean and grade the yard to ensure that any construction debris is removed, and your yard is ready for summer.
